Does a manager have to be extraverted?

No.
Because: leadership is not a question of volume. It’s about impact and effect.
What counts today is something else: context. Emotional intelligence. Attitude.
- Teams are more diverse.
- In times of change, empathetic support is needed that asks rather than tells.
- Employees act more independently.
- And good leadership often means giving space rather than taking it.
And yet many still think:
- “I’m too quiet for leadership.”
- “I’m not good at selling myself.”
- “I need time to think before I react.”
Leadership doesn’t need volume. Leadership needs attitude. You don’t have to be an extrovert to move people. You can be genuine. Clear. Listening. And willing to let others grow.
